Mrs. D'Andrea BCIS
Science & Technology

My name is Amybeth D’Andrea and I have been a teacher for twenty five years. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Saint Michael’s College in Vermont. I followed that with a Masters degree in Education from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Over my career I have been a classroom teacher in 1st, 3rd, & 4th grades, an academic specialists in grades K-5, and a Reading Title I teacher assistant. I am thrilled with the opportunity to teach Science & Technology to students in grades K-3 this year.
Over the years I have had the opportunity to teach in many exciting places from Corsham, England to Essex, Vermont to Boston, Massachusetts, to Martha's Vineyard. I am so very excited to have arrived here on Cape Cod with all of you at the Barnstable Community Innovation School.
For me, teaching is a joy. Working with young students is energizing and inspirational. I enjoy the unique qualities each student brings to the classroom. Our year together is truly a journey of academic and personal growth.
When I am not teaching I am "Mom" to my two fabulous sons Matthew and Henry who are both away at college this year. Matthew is in Boston at Northeastern University, studying Music Industry & Communication with a minor in Law. Henry is in Atlanta at Georgia Tech, studying to be an Aerospace Engineer, and is a cadette in the Air Force ROTC. As a family we love to bike, kayak, build with Legos, solve puzzles, watch everything Star Wars & Marvel, and rescue Boxer dogs. We welcomed our 3rd Boxer rescue, Lucy, in the spring of 2017. She is full of personality and loves her new life by the sea. If there is any time left in my busy day I love to take the dog on long hikes, practice yoga, dance, read, watch Masterpiece Theater, shop and go to the beach.
I am so excited to begin my third year at BCIS! I look forward to an adventurous year with your child.
